Living & Learning Communities

We are anxious to welcome you into the College of Business family. SIU Carbondale offers Living Learning Communities (LLCs), special residence hall communities that bring college learning into the everyday lives of students. LLCs give students the opportunity to live in close proximity to others who share common interests and areas of study, and to have greater interaction with university faculty and staff.

Research indicates that students who participate in an LLC often have higher GPAs and are more likely to graduate on schedule. Students living in an LLC enjoy getting to know professors and classmates better‚ greater access to academic resources and specialized programs right in their residence halls.

BROWN HALL

The College of Business has its own LLC located in Brown Hall. It’s located on scenic Thompson Point, overlooking Campus lake.

Students living in the College of Business LLC enjoy all of the great benefits and are among the first to receive information about events, guest speakers, career opportunities and more.

FRESHMAN INTEREST GROUPS

Freshman Interest Groups (FIGs) are one-semester orientation programs for incoming freshmen. Typically housed within an LLC, they usually include students from similar areas of study. These students are likely taking many of the same classes and the FIGs allow students to make friends in their field of study and network with peers in their program.

For more information about the College of Business LLC or FIGs, contact Rachel Richey at (618) 453-7494, or rrichey@business.siu.edu.
