Marketing Student invited to NFL Scouting Combine
January 15, 2010,
Marketing student and Saluki football player Scott Ravaneski, a member of the 2008 All-Conference Academic team and the 2009 football conference title, has been invited to try out for the NFL Scouting Combine.
The NFL Combine is a showcase of the top 250-300 players in the country. If these players are selected, they could be eligible for the NFL draft. Ravaneski will go through a series of interviews with NFL coaches, general managers, and other high position rankings officials to determine if he will qualify for the 2010 NFL draft.
During the Combine, Ravaneski will be evaluated with a series of physical tests such as bench press, 40-yard dash, vertical jump, and other position-related drills to showcase his abilities to the coaches. Since Ravaneski is a punter, his main focus during the Combine will be on kicking in front of the NFL scouts, general managers, and coaches. In order for Ravaneski to prepare himself for the Combine he is training with SIU’s own head strength and conditioning coach, Jared Nessland as well as a strength and conditioning professional from Nashville, Illinois. Both of these men are pushing Ravaneski to get into the best shape possible for the Combine.
The NFL combine is the last week of February and is located at the Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts. The College of Business wishes Scott Ravaneski the best of luck on his tryouts.
