The College of Business Executive Advisory Board elected Adaire Putnam as their new chairperson on April 16, 2010. Putnam was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. In 1981, she received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in communications with a minor in business.

Currently, Putnam works for the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek, Michigan as the Senior Director of External Communications. She is responsible for corporate communications and brand public relations for the company. Her team’s focus is to advance and protect the reputation of the company as well as their outstanding brands.

“While these are very challenging times for higher education in general and SIU specifically, I am incredibly optimistic about the future of the College of Business. We have a number of forward-thinking programs in place and underway, allowing us to focus on delivering a high-quality student experience, attract and retain excellent faculty, and build the offerings and reputation of the College of Business,” stated Putnam on his reaction to becoming chair.

The External Advisory Board exists to support the Dean and his staff by bringing the perspective of the business community into the college. They are there as a sounding board and resource to help and support in any way they can. Putnam looks forward to continuing this commitment, especially during the upcoming Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation process.
