To kick off the beginning of a new year, the College of Business hosted its 4th Annual Welcome Back Event on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. Students, faculty, and staff gathered in the front of Rehn Hall to enjoy music provided by local radio station CIL-FM, Great Boars of Fire barbeque, and have the chance to win numerous free prizes totaling over $800. Chancellor Rita Cheng made a special appearance and met members of the College of Business faculty, staff and student body.
A large part of the event was focused on students having the opportunity to meet with the College’s Registered Student Organizations. Members were out in full force encouraging students to get involved during their college experience. Those organizations recruiting included The Accounting Society, Alpha Kappa Psi, American Marketing Association, Beta Alpha Psi, Blacks Interested in Business, Business Leadership Council, Financial Management Association, National Association of Black Accountants, NAACP, Pi Sigma Epsilon, Project Management Institute, Saluki Student Investment Fund, and SalukiCEO Corps.
The event was a huge success, bringing over 420 people together. Matt Purdy, Associate Director of the Business Placement Center said, “It’s a time for everybody to get together, and for students and faculty to mingle before the semester starts. Students also have the chance to start off the year by getting involved in the many College of Business student organizations.”
