Heather Paquette, a 1995 graduate who earned her accounting degree from SIU, was recently named the 2010 Working Mother of the Year at KPMG by Working Mother Magazine. KPMG selected Paquette to earn this honor.

To receive the title, Paquette sets a healthy work-life balance by immersing herself in her activities both at work and home. “You decide what's most important so you can prioritize what and how you do it,” she says. “At work, I look at my client expectations and cover those appropriately. That way I can be a fully engaged mom when I get home.”

Paquette is an IT Advisory Partner at KPMG’s Chicago office as well as Chair of the Board of Directors for ATHENA International. She is also a member of Accounting Circle and the School of Accountancy’s External Advisory Board.

Cathy Lumbattis, Lecturer in the School of Accountancy, said that Paquette is a master of multi-tasking. “She is the mother of three boys under the age of 5 while being a Partner of KPMG,” she said. Paquette also keeps in touch with Lumbattis about recruiting SIU students for the KPMG Inside Look program at her office.
