Finance graduate begins career with NISA Investment Advisors
December 01, 2011,
College of Business Alumnus Randy Lane (Finance, 2011) recently began a career with NISA Investment Advisors, L.L.C. as a Client Services Reporting Analyst. This particular position is very competitive, and requires a high-degree of independent thinking skills, strong analytical and quantitative skills.
Randy’s current position with NISA Investment Advisors, L.L.C. requires him to prepare client reporting, verify client invoices, prepare meeting presentation materials, assist with consultant databases; respond to RFP/RFI requests and due diligence questionnaires, complete special projects as needed, and provide general support to the Client Services Team.
While attending SIU, Randy was primarily involved with the Saluki Student Investment Fund (SSIF). The SSIF gave him the perfect opportunity to implement the skills he was acquiring in the classroom. “It showed me the importance of risk management and the controls that firms use when managing money for a client. SSIF forced me to learn how to make presentations, voice my opinions, and conduct research. I was challenged every week to become better, to strive harder, to learn more. I cannot convey how important and influential my time in the SSIF was to me and my career,” stated Randy.
Randy felt that his education played a vital role in preparing him for his current position. “I could not have been better prepared. The professors in the College of Business gave me great challenges and insight, all of which helped me attain my first job out of college. I use many of the projects I did in class as a reference to complete projects I do at work.”
