Carbondale's Good Samaritan receives a big donation
December 14, 2011,
On November 22, the College of Business donated more than 2,500 cans of food to Carbondale’s Good Samaritan House. Good Samaritan House helps those in the Carbondale area with basic needs, including food and shelter. Recently, the demand has increased for their services, so the donations from the College came at a crucial time.
During the month of November, the School of Accountancy challenged the Marketing, Finance, and Management Departments along with the Dean’s office to a friendly competition to see who could collect the most nonperishable food items. The School of Accountancy gathered the most donations, but all departments made significant contributions to the cause.
"We thought it would be good to do something for the community this time of year, so we thought we would call the Good Samaritan House to see if they could use it. They said they could, so we decided to help." said Marcus Odom the School of Accountancy Chairman.
