Five reasons to attend our Social Networking Seminar
January 29, 2012,
Social media is used everywhere and knowing how to capitalize on its potential benefits is an important skill for every business student. To help our students become more savvy with social media, the College of Business Placement Center is hosting Social Networking Seminars on Thursday, February 2, in Rehn Hall, Room 108. The sessions will be offered at multiple times (11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.), to accommodate student schedules.
Five reasons you should attend our Social Networking Seminar:
5. Learn easy ways to manage multiple platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter).
Find out how to integrate your various social media accounts, and how to use them most effectively, based on their unique, but practical features.
4. Learn how to use platforms like Twitter and YouTube to get a company to notice you.
Are you already using these programs for fun or personal use? Learn how to leverage your skills and expertise by promoting the most important brand of all – You!
3. Connect with people based on their industry, rather than geographic location.
The biggest advantage of networking online is the removal of location barriers to meet the right people and reach your professional goals. It allows you to contact people whom you may have never met without these powerful online mediums.
2. Find out what LinkedIn is and how it’s different than Facebook AND how to use it.
LinkedIn may be the most powerful professional networking tool out there, but many people don’t understand how to maximize its benefits. It enables you to find people who work in your field or at a company of interest, and in some cases, contact them directly. You can also explore new career opportunities.
1. Most people know what Facebook is, but they don’t know how to use it effectively for professional networking.
Forget the photo album from last weekend’s crazy antics, or the constant relationship status updates of your best friend. Learn how Facebook can be so much more than a way to keep up with your friends. It can be an incredible networking opportunity for professional use, as well as personal.
