External Advisory Board member inducted into Private Label Hall of Fame

The College of Business extends its congratulations to External Advisory Board Member, Don Welge for his induction into the Private Label Hall of Fame.
Don Welge, President & General Manager of Gilster-Mary Lee Corp. in Chester, Illinois, was recently inducted into the Private Label Hall of Fame as established by the Private Label Manufacturers Association & Private Label / Store Brands Magazine.
Founded in 2006, the Hall of Fame includes more than two dozen leaders within the grocery store brands / private label industry. Nominations for this year’s inductees were solicited from executives involved in the marketing, distribution, and manufacturing of private brand food products. The criteria for selection include leadership in the industry, showing creativity in sales and marketing, advancing technology, and serving as "champion" for store brands within their own companies, business communities and the consumer marketplace.
Don Welge has served as Gilster-Mary Lee’s President since 1965. Today Gilster-Mary Lee employs over 3500 people in 4 states, producing over 8000 SKUs in 12 food manufacturing facilities.
