Kyle Fredericks, a May 2013 Marketing graduate, recently got the opportunity to travel to the Summer X Games in Los Angeles, California.

Fredericks is employed as an Associate Marketing Manager for the Jel Sert Company in West Chicago, Illinois. Jel Sert is a leader in freezer bars, diet drinks, gelatins, puddings, and frozen desserts. Because Jel Sert has the license for the X Games freezer bar, Fredericks and a group of coworkers flew to LA to do product sampling. They gave away over 60,000 Fla Vor Ice freezer pops (also known as Otter Pops on the west coast), X Games Ice Tubes, and Warheads freezer bars. They also met with X Games and ESPN staff to coordinate future events.

Fredericks enjoyed the opportunity to see Jel Sert’s consumers using their product. He said, “It was really interesting to see the end result of our efforts, since most of the time we are in meetings strategizing how to appeal to the consumers. I loved the experience and cannot wait for more trips in the future.”

In his position, Fredericks focuses on brand management, designing and implementing new products that will debut in 2014, doing analytics for existing products, and digital marketing and social media. When asked what his favorite part of the job was, he said, “My job is basically composed of a bunch of different jobs, so each day is different. My favorite part is learning all the new strategies our company considers before coming out with a new product.”
