On September 12 and 13, Dean Dennis Cradit and his External Advisory Board members convened in St. Louis for their semi-annual alumni reception and board meeting. Along with College faculty, staff, and area alumni, seven students were chosen to attend the event as a networking opportunity.
Students who attended were Carlos Benedict, a senior majoring in Finance, Lane Dillard, a senior majoring in Supply Chain Management, Eleni Hampton, a sophomore majoring in Marketing, Mustafa Abdullah, Jr., a junior majoring in Marketing, Brandy Bailey, a senior majoring in Management, Scott Polczynski, a senior majoring in Accounting, and Emily Morgan, a student in the MBA program.
Over 40 St. Louis area alumni attended the event, which was held at the Ritz-Carlton. Tim Dixon, former SIU baseball coach and nationally recognized character coach, delivered the keynote address on embracing change in society.
When asked about his experience at the reception, Dillard said, “The External Advisory Board reception was one of the more memorable experiences I have had during my time at SIU. It was fascinating to meet alumni and board members and observe the relationships they had with my friends, acquaintances, and professors in attendance. I left having had a great time, and, more importantly, as a proud Saluki better understanding the strength and value of the tremendous College of Business network."
