Amy Igou and Will Drover, two doctoral candidates in the Department of Management, have both recently accepted full time faculty appointments. Both students will graduate with their Ph.D. in May 2014 and begin their teaching careers in August 2014.
Igou was offered a position at the University of Northern Iowa, located in Cedar Falls. She was hired as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting. She will teach Introduction to Accounting Information Systems, and graduate level Accounting Information Systems. At SIU, Igou has experience teaching courses such as Introduction to Management Information Systems, Accounting Database Systems, and Introduction to Data Analysis.
Igou is excited about returning to Iowa where her husband resides. She is thrilled that she will be teaching courses that she loves while also continuing her research. She said, “When I read the job posting for UNI, I knew that was where I would be. It was the perfect match of my interests, their needs, my location preferences and, of course, a job opening at the right time. It is a blended environment that I was looking for in a university.”
Drover was offered a position at the University of Oklahoma, located in Norman. He accepted the position at OU as an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy, and will teach Business Strategy and New Venture Development II. At SIU, Drover taught Business Strategy and Management’s Responsibility to Society.
Drover is very enthusiastic about several different aspects of the new job. Notably, he mentioned, “I'm excited about the opportunity to work with a great group of people. Additionally, OU has developed a leading and innovative entrepreneurship program. Thus, I am excited about the opportunity to work in a department that values and encourages high level teaching and research on entrepreneurship.”
The College congratulates Igou and Drover and wishes them the best in their future endeavors!
