Business alumna inducted into SCPA Sports Hall of Fame

The South Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall Of Fame held their 34th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Banquet Saturday evening at the Premier Events in Shippensburg.
This year's six inductees were Sharon Leidy Todd, Edmond T. Lesher, Dr. Les Poolman, Dr. Barry L. Purvis, Henry Tim Bream III, and Darwin Breaux.
The program consisted of a welcome message, invocation, pledge to the flag, dinner, introduction of guests and Hall of Fame members, and presentation of 2013 inductees. The presentation was followed by a benediction, and a memorial service for those of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Leidy Todd, Boiling Springs High School valedictorian for the class of 1981, was a hall of fame field hockey and track star for Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. Todd was a two-time Academic All-American at SIU and was named the Gateway Conference’s field hockey MVP of the decade for the years spanning 1982-1992 to go along with her 1985 conference championship in the Indoor Pentathlon and Outdoor Heptathlon. She was inducted into the SIU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992.
Lesher was a football star at Chambersburg High School in the 1940’s as well as in his eight years with the semi-pro Chambersburg Cardinals. In 1950, Lesher played on the US Army team at Camp Stewart that defeated a Marine team filled with professional and college players. Later on, Lesher became an accomplished tennis player at Chambersburg Country Club.
For 25 years, Dr. Pollman has served at the Athletic Director at Dickinson College, having held the position with the Red Devils since 1988.
Dr. Purvis was an incredibly accomplished football player for Chambersburg High School and track star for East Stroudsburg University in the 1970’s. Purvis was a Big 33 nominee and MVP in 1972, before setting school records and PSAC titles for East Stroudsburg in the mile relay. Purvis is also an accomplished coach, serving as a long time girls’ basketball and track coach for the Trojans.
Bream is a Gettysburg High School grad that has had a long and distinguished career as an athletic trainer. Bream was the Head Athletic Trainer for the Chicago Bears from 1997-2012 and is currently the head trainer for Penn State football.
Breaux, a Louisiana native, is the longtime head football coach at Dickinson College. Breaux has led the Red Devils since 1993 and is the winningest coach in the school’s history.
