Dr. Cheryl Burke Jarvis named Associate Editor for the Journal of Service Research

Dr. Cheryl Burke Jarvis

Dr. Jarvis, Chair and Professor of Marketing, recently accepted a position as Associate Editor with the Journal of Service Research.  As an Associate Editor, Jarvis will consolidate and interpret reviews for the editor and authors, make recommendations on how to handle review inconsistencies, highlight the important issues for authors to address in revisions, and add any of her own suggestions for improving the research submitted for publication. 

Even though Jarvis has more than a full schedule as department chair and as a professor, she feels it is important to serve as an Associate Editor.  She states, “Reviewing articles and taking on this additional appointment as an AE is part of my responsibility as a faculty member to serve the discipline and contribute to knowledge creation in the field.  To be asked to be an Associate Editor is a big honor.”  She goes on to say that she has “learned so much from reviewing papers in the past.  Participating in the review process helps to improve my own research.”

Jarvis has served on the Editorial Boards for the Journal of Service Research and the Journal for the Academy of Marketing Science.  She was named “Researcher of the Year” by the Southern Illinois University College of Business in 2012 and the “2012 Reviewer of the Year” for the Journal of Service Research
