CARBONDALE, IL -- Michelle Lyn Cooper, from St. Louis, MO, was recently honored by the MidAmerica Healthcare Executives Forum for her excellence and leadership as a student of the healthcare management profession.  The award was presented by Bart Millstead, FACHE (Fellow, American College of Healthcare Executives) Southern Illinois Chapter President, and Vice President/Administrator for Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and Dr. Pete Mykytyn, Chair and Professor of Management.  Millstead said “It is important that we continue to support the education of the future leaders in healthcare.  The MidAmerica Healthcare Executives Forum is proud to sponsor this award and to offer ongoing networking and educational opportunities.”

Michelle Cooper is a senior at the SIU College of Business majoring in management with a specialization in management of health-care enterprises.  Cooper chose to attend SIU after watching her cousin play basketball for the Salukis.  She says her experience at SIU has been enhanced by her participation in externships and student organizations.  “I am honored and surprised by this recognition.  Receiving this award inspires me to continue to work hard.” states Cooper.  After graduation, Cooper hopes to work with an organization focused on providing healthcare to women and children.
