The SIU College of Business welcomes Jason Greene as interim dean and Cheryl Burke Jarvis as associate dean.

Jason Greene, Henry J. Rehn professor of finance, recently accepted the interim dean position.  Greene will lead the College of Business during a search for a permanent replacement for J. Dennis Cradit, who accepted a position as dean of the College of Business at San Diego State University.

Greene held faculty positions at San Jose State University and George State University before coming to SIU in 2009. He interrupted his academic career for private-sector positions, including serving as vice president and senior investment officer for INTECH Investment Management, a global institutional investment management firm.

At SIU, he has served as faculty adviser to the Saluki Student Investment Fund and Graduate Student Investment Fund and has been active in college and campus committees. He was named Outstanding Graduate Teacher of the Year for the College of Business in 2011.

Greene earned a bachelor’s degree from Rhodes College and a Ph.D. in finance from Indiana University.

Greene says, “I agreed to step into this role with two primary goals.  First, I want to make sure that we continue moving forward in the short-term in further enhancing our educational programs and fostering high-quality faculty research.  Equally important, I want to make sure that we are ideally situated in the college to attract a new permanent dean who will lead the college in realizing its full potential over the long term.”

Cheryl Burke Jarvis, professor of marketing, recently accepted the position of associate dean.  She joined the college in 2009 from Arizona State University, where she was a faculty member for nine years.  Before becoming a marketing professor, she spent over 10 years in the marketing and advertising industry.  Jarvis earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University.  She earned a second master’s degree, as well as her Ph.D., both in marketing, from Indiana University.

Since coming to SIU’s College of Business, Jarvis has served as chair of the Department of Marketing for two years, was named the Outstanding Researcher of the Year for the College of Business in 2012 and the “Journal of Service Research” awarded her 2013 Reviewer of the Year honors and named her associate editor.

The associate dean appointment became effective June 1, and the interim dean appointment was effective beginning July 1.
