Miller wins national award for manuscript

Accounting senior Lindsey Miller was chosen as the winner of the 2011 Student Manuscript Award from the Institute of Managerial Accountants (IMA). For this, she will be honored at their 92 Annual Conference & Exposition in Orlando, Florida on June 5, where she will present her winning manuscript titled “Support Yourself to Success."
IMA is an association for accountants and financial professionals in business. It has chapters for business professionals and students located throughout the U.S. and internationally.
Miller was the president of the Accounting Society, a student chapter of IMA, during the 2010-2011 school year. She had held positions during the two prior years, and will be the Vice President of Programming while she is enrolled in the Master of Accountancy program. Recently, she was selected as one of SIU’s 25 Most Distinguished Seniors and was named the Outstanding Senior in the School of Accountancy.
Cathy Lumbattis, faculty advisor and lecturer in the School of Accountancy, spoke highly of Lindsey saying, “She has been an excellent member of the organization and has always been willing to volunteer and accept leadership positions. She is truly an outstanding student in the School of Accountancy at SIU and an invaluable member of the Accounting Society/IMA Student Chapter.”
