College of Business joins in on Homecoming tailgate festivities
November 05, 2018,
The 2018 Homecoming tailgate was one for the books! Nearly 200 past and current Salukis visited the CoB homecoming tailgate tent on Saluki Row before the football game on Oct. 20 for food, drinks and a good time.
Pre-game radio talk filled the air with game details and strategy breakdowns. Saluki Row was packed with bouncy houses and other activities, food and fans preparing to cheer on the Salukis.
The aroma of food from the CoB tent grill drew alumni in for the homecoming tailgate celebration. Alumni, current students, families and friends were able to reconnect while enjoying a tailgate meal. Burgers, hot dogs, brats, chips and cookies were offered to all who entered the tent.
Alumni enjoyed connecting with one another and students and some even shared valuable insights with students who will graduate soon. Alumni also spoke of the college’s excellence during their time on campus and how they enjoy watching the progress of their alma mater. Many brought their spouses and children to meet their CoB family and share SIU memories, while creating some new memories.
Current students were able to introduce their families to faculty and staff. Katherine Gallick, who will graduate in May with her bachelor’s degree in Management, brought her parents, Edward and Georgette Gallick, to tailgate where they learned more about the college and the exciting things happening there.
The Gallick’s said the approachability and professionalism of the CoB staff and alumni was impressive. They feel their daughter is getting a high-quality education through the SIU CoB.
Even though the day didn’t end as all would have preferred since the Salukis lost to Indiana State 24-21, the turn-out for the 2018 Homecoming tailgate was remarkable and college officials are pleased to have had the opportunity to catch up with CoB alumni and see connections made by Salukis past, present and future.
