Nawaraj Sharma Paudel is a third year Ph.D. student in Economics and a Teaching Assistant. He began the Ph.D. program in Economics at SIUC in Fall 2017. His doctoral research focuses on the U.S.A. Interstate Migration, Interstate Trade and Politics. In broad, his research interest lies in the field of Trade, Finance, Development Economics and Micro Economics. He is quite interested in statistical software STATA, MATLAB and programming language R. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from Tribhuvan University (T.U.), Nepal. During his stay in Nepal he worked around two years in a commercial Bank as a credit analyst. Also, he taught Introductory Micro and Macro Economics at the T.U. affiliated college for two and half years. Then, he came to Western Illinois University (WIU) and received his Master’s degree in Economics in 2016. He co-authored the paper “R&D, FDI, and Innovation: Examination of the Patent Application in the OECD countries (2019)” that explores the effect of FDI on research and development in the OECD member countries over the period 1996-2015.
