Leslee Hammers began working in the Online Undergraduate Program in Spring 2017. She has a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Technologies and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Instructional Technology. Leslee was a non-traditional student for both of these degrees, working and attending school part-time. She had one daughter before she started working on her bachelor’s degree and another daughter before she finished. Leslee felt like she needed to obtain an education to be better able to stress the importance of a college education to her daughters.

Leslee has been interested in adult education, especially online education, since she began working on her bachelor’s degree. Having worked in different roles in the College of Business and Analytics since 2004, she is excited for the opportunity to utilize her education and years of institutional knowledge to assist students and faculty with online education.

Lynne Westra joined the College of Business and Analytics in August of 2001, where she is the digital media and online education specialist. She was a part of the SIU family long before then. Before joining SIU, Westra received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Seattle University in 1989. In July of 1993, Westra began working at SIU as an office assistant and has been a Saluki ever since. While working full-time at the university, she earned a Master of Arts in interactive multimedia and mass communications from SIU in 2008.

Saluki pride and tradition is nothing new to Westra and is part of what makes her role at the college so special. Westra’s parents are Saluki alumni, as is her son who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2014, and her daughter who graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in May of 2020.

At the college, Westra handles all things digital and website related. She works closely with online degree programs to design portals and develop course material presentations. She also handles all design, development and maintenance of all the college’s websites.

Her position at the college allows her to work closely with students, faculty and staff daily and this quality remains as one of her favorite parts of the college.

“The College of Business and Analytics really embraces a team atmosphere among staff, allowing us to all work toward creating a unique and supportive environment for our students” said Westra.
