Congratulations and Welcome to the College of Business and Analytics!

You’ve been admitted, and we’re thrilled to have you join our community of aspiring business leaders. Here’s what is next as you embark on this exciting journey:

Step 1: Register for Orientation

Orientation is your first step to success. Meet your peers, learn about campus resources, and get to know the staff who will support you throughout your academic journey. Be sure to register for orientation early!

Step 2: Explore Financial Aid Options

If you haven’t already, explore scholarships, grants, and other financial aid options. Our financial aid office is here to help you navigate the process and maximize your funding opportunities.

Step 3: Complete the Online Math Placement Test

Visit Math Placement to learn more about the test and what to expect. To complete the test, log in to Salukinet and click the "My Courses (D2L)" icon. Within that portal, find the "My Courses" tab to access the math placement exam.

All new students are required to take this test. During your advisement appointment, your advisor can discuss your placement scores and recommend which math course(s) meet your program requirements.

Step 4: Plan Your Courses

Review the course requirements for your major before you talk with an advisor by visiting SIU's Undergraduate Academic Catalog and viewing the program page: 

If you are Undecided in Business, review the requirements of all CoBA majors to see what might suit you best.

SIU's general education classes are called University Core Curriculum (UCC) classes. These classes are categorized by type, including Science, Humanities, and Fine Arts. You can read about the classes, and what each course entails, in SIU's Undergraduate Academic Catalog.

Step 5: Meet with Your Advisor

Connect with our academic advisors to plan your first semester. Our advisors will help you choose the right courses, understand your degree requirements, and create a personalized academic plan.

Call us at (618) 453-7496 with your name, DawgTag, and preferred date/time of your appointment.  Be sure to mention that you are a new student. Appointments will take about 45 minutes. 

If you completed AP college courses in high school and/or completed college level work, be sure  to tell your advisor. Provide a copy of your AP courses and scores and/or college transcripts in order to verify that you are not advised for classes in which credit has already been earned.

Step 6: Get Involved

Join student organizations, clubs, and other extracurricular activities and follow the College of Business and Analytics on social media.

Getting involved is a great way to meet new people, develop leadership skills, and enhance your college experience.

Step 7: Prepare for Your First Day

Check out the campus map, find out where your classes are, and get ready for an exciting first day. Don’t forget to review the student handbook and familiarize yourself with college policies and resources.
